I see Habs fans crumbing on he's not worth 6 mil... well right now of course not... but really how many guys in this league are worth what they are paid.????
I look at some of the FA deals this yr and I'd take Kotkaniemi over 95% of them...
Add to that now Canes have really good lines for him to thrive on .. plus pp time.. this is nothing short of a great move by the Canes.
Svech / Necas and JK all young and growing.. with Suzuki and Jarvis coming.. yeah... this is a nice add. |

Now extend him for 5-8 years at $4.5 - 5M and the QO disappears.
Good move by Hurricanes and good mitigation move by Habs to pick-up Dvorak |

If Carolina does indeed extend him for longer term at a slightly less cap hit this will make alot more sense. |

Enjoy KK I think he could be a great one in the right system.
For some reason he got on the wrong side of management/coach here and there seemed that there might be some bad blood.
But our loss is your gain I hope this one doesn't bite us like Leclair lol.
Good luck next year! |

I think it's a fine deal. Even if KK turns out to be a quality 3rd center/winger. Late 1st is worth it. |

KK is doing to do great in Carolina. He will have two all-star Fins in Aho and Terevainen to guide him. |

Interesting take on the Hurricanes blog poll... Shouldn't the poll be if the Hurricanes made the right move, signing the sheet? Just saying... |

He’s probably gonna play out the year and bet on himself so that 6.1 becomes the starting point of negotiations.
I still think this was a good move for the Canes. If he gets playing time with their top forwards, I expect he’ll meet the qualifications. He’s a nice player that with some help is gonna put together quite a few decent seasons |

One thing to know about Bergevin management. They really sucks at drafting but they are pretty good at trading. Out of all the drafted player I think the only good picks were Caufield, Sergachev and the only bad trade was Drouin. Letting Kotkaniemi go is a gamble but he was a bust with the habs and had to go. I just wish the return was better but if logic is again respected, and considering the circumstance, it was the right move. |

Canes can try and fool themselves all they want, they had no need for an overpriced project on offense.
What they do need is defense and goaltending.
Letting they young goaltender walk. Low balling Hamilton and now getting a player that couldnt even make the roster during the last 2 games of the stanley cup finals.
Good luck with this headache of a move.
I am happy we don’t have to deal with this player anymore that was forces upon by the terrible drafting of Timmins and Bergevin |

if KK breaks out, its going to be a hell of a steal by the canes, if he craps out and canes make playoffs the first is meh and a good gamble, MTL was doing to KK what they did to Galchenyuk, so the canes rescued KK from the Habs. |

KK reminds me of a young Scheifele who didn't develop into a #1 center until he was 22 and got to play with the Jets top line wingers. If KK has a breakout year the Habs will regret not matching. |

Your basing this on what exactly?
They arent even close in playstyle and dont bring the same skill set?
Pretty random |

Hummmm. Just maybe the Habnot development system needs an overhaul. Suppose? |
